What’s Up:

Vancouver (1-1-1=3 pts) takes on the San Jose Sharks (2–0–0 =4 pts) in their second game against each other in five days and last meeting in preseason play. The other game being played on September 27 at San Jose, a 3-2 OT loss for the Canucks.

The Sharks enter the game having won their first two preseason games, both in overtime, both at home, by identical 3-2 scores, the latest on Friday night defeating the Arizona Coyotes.

It will be the Sharks first road preseason game, while this game is the first of a three game home stand for the Canucks, who defeated Edmonton at home on Wednesday night 5-3.

What’s at stake:

Vancouver will be looking even up the preseason series tonight against San Jose at a win apiece.

The Canucks will be trying to register their second consecutive win at home this preseason, after suffering their first regulation loss on Friday night on the road against the Calgary Flames 2-1.

San Jose is undefeated in the 2016 preseason and will be looking to make it three consecutive wins tonight, and avoid a loss against their division rivals.

Vancouver is looking to nip its losing streak at one game, for the second time this preseason.

Vancouver was 0 for 5 on the power play against Calgary on Friday night, and the same against the Sharks on September 27, and need to jump start their inept man advantage play, and avoid another large goose egg on the power play tonight.

On a positive note, Canucks penalty kill is at 82.4 percent after three games, which is good as Vancouver has taken a lot of penalties with 48 minutes so far, as is the nature of the beast in preseason, as players compete for jobs with the team.

Vancouver special teams are 2 for 12 on the power play with 13 shots on net; 14 for 17 on the penalty kill with 8 shots on net and one empty net shorthanded goal, so far this preseason.
