Troy Stecher and Jayson Megna To Make Regular Season Debuts Tonight For Canucks

With the injuries to the Canucks increasing, Vancouver recalled defenseman Troy Stecher and forward Jayson Megna from the AHL Utica Comets on Monday.

They both will be in the lineup tonight as the Canucks take on the Ottawa Senators, looking to go 5-0-0 at home.

Stecher, 22, is very excited to get into his first regular season game but doesn’t want to stop at one game:


Coach Willie Desjardins is high on Stecher and wants to utilize his skills and talents tonight, , and might play on the power play as well:


A native of Richmond, British Columbia, Stecher was signed by Vancouver as a free agent on July 1, 2016, and is expected to be playing with Alex Edler in a defensive pairing:


Megna, 26, previously played six games with the Rangers, Megna tallied one goal and one assist (1-1-2) along with two penalty minutes. He believes his previous NHL experience will benefit him in tonight’s regular season debut with Vancouver:


The 6-1, 192-pound forward split the 2015.16 season between the New York Rangers and the AHL Hartford Wolf Pack, and he wants to make a positive impression tonight in his call up role with the Canucks:
