Game Review: Canucks Defeat Arizona For Second Road Win, Horvat and Baertschi Get Three Points Each

Vancouver (8-10-2=18 pts) played the first game of a three game road trip tonight at Gila River Arena against Pacific division rivals, Arizona Coyotes (6-10-2=14 pts), defeating their hosts, 4-1.

Sven Baertschi (1-2=3 pts) and Bo Horvat (1-2=3 pts), led the Canucks offensively with three points, including a goal each; and Alex Burrows with a goal and an assist, and Loui Eriksson, with his 4th goal of the season, led Vancouver to their second road win of the season.

Luca Sbisa and Markus Granlund chipped in with an assist each.

Daniel Sedin’s 8 game point streak came to an end tonight.

Vancouver took a 4-1 lead into the third period, and scored three unanswered goals in the second, to register their 8th win of the season.

Canucks starting goalie Ryan Miller, stopped 35 of 36 shots in the game.

Miller, is 3-7-0 with a 2.73 GAA and a .908 save percentage.

Joseph LaBate made his NHL debut tonight for the Canucks, replacing Jack Skille, who could not play because of an upper body injury.

Scratches for the Canucks were Philip Larsen and Alex Biega.

In the first, the Canucks opened up the scoring, for the second game in a row, as Sven Baertschi scored his 2nd goal of the season, assisted by Bo Horvat (5)+ at 3:08.

In the second, the Coyotes tied the game 1-1 on a goal by Christian Dvorak (2), assisted by Anthony DeAngelo (3) and Alex Goligoski (8), at 0:58.

Loui Eriksson made it 2-1 Vancouver just over two minutes later, at 3:18, with his 4th goal of the season, assisted by Markus Granlund (3) and Luca Sbisa (4).

For Eriksson, his goal was his third in the last five games.

Seventeen seconds later, the Canucks go up 3-1 on Arizona, on a goal by Bo Horvat, his 7th goal, assisted by Alex Burrows (4) and Sven Baertschi (6), at 3:35.

Coyotes goalie Mike Smith would give up a soft goal to Alex Burrows, for his 3rd goal of the season, at 6:49, assisted by Sven Baertschi (7) and Bo Horvat (6), and the Canucks were up by three goals, 4-1.

Smith was replaced in net for Arizona by Louis Domingue. Smith stopped 13 of 17 shots in 26:49 of play.

In the third, there was no scoring.
